CoolPeel is a new way to safely AND comfortably offer the benefits of a traditional CO2 resurfacing laser without all the pain and downtime. CoolPeel targets just the superficial layer of skin. The damaged skin will then slough off revealing younger, healthier-looking skin. 

CO2 lasers really are the gold standard for treating wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and acne scars, while tightening and balancing the skin tone. Damaged skin sloughs off; new collagen is stimulated as heat tightens the skin. A full-on CO2 laser treatment has considerable post procedure discomfort and downtime, often for weeks.

However, the CoolPeel uses a Tetra CO2 laser that has a very precise, controlled energy delivery at the perfect speed for superficial skin resurfacing. A CoolPeel laser peel takes 15-20 minutes. We can even treat hands and decollete in 5-10 minutes. 

You do not have to have sedation or localized numbing, but we can use numbing cream if you have a lower pain threshhold; and we always use cool air to increase the comfort. You can expect to be a little red afterward, as if you have a sunburn, for a day or two, but you can still return to your normal activities. Yor skin will probably feel dry and scaly while you heal so it's important to keep it hydrated. We have the perfect Epionce cream that soothes, hydrates and will not clog pores.

Emtone for Cellulite

Almost all of us have cellulite, especially women. Ugh! 80-90% of women develop cellulite after puberty whereas only 10% of men have it. And let me be perfectly clear.....being overweight is not THE cause so stop beating yourself up. Cellulite can appear anywhere but is most common on the butt, thighs and tummy. 

The cause of cellulite is multifactorial and represents a chronic inflammatory process.  Cellulite forms when fibrous bands connecting your skin to the underlying muscle tighten irregularly. This tightening pulls down on your skin, and the layer of fat beneath the skin pushes upward. This results in a puckered appearance to the skin.

In women the subcutaneous tissue connects to the muscles differently than in men. In men, the fibers that make up the connective bands crisscross together. In women, the fibers that make up the connective bands run the same direction and are an equal distance apart. (see above) These "parallel"  bands may show puckering more than crisscross bands. Hormonal factors play a role too. Higher amounts of estrogen cause cellulite. Cellulite often develops more rapidly when women produce more estrogen, like during adolescence or pregnancy.  A high-calorie diet that features a lot of carbs, fats, salt and preservatives can also contribute to the development of more cellulite. And since cellulite is a chronic inflammatory process, it can be made worse by smoking which diminishes blood flow to the area and weakens the formation of collagen. 

Again, cellulite is a chronic inflammatory process, therefore it can be hard to get rid of and keep away. Treatments include liposuction, Qwo, and Cellfina for example, all of which can work but have their associated costs, swelling, bruising and down time. There are multiple at home devices and other noninvasive medical devices as well, none of which we have been very satisfied with in the past. Until now.......

 Emsella is one of our most exciting devices! As a med spa, and as a retired internal medicine physician, I like to focus on health and wellness, not just beauty. Emsella offers just that. It is FDA approved to treat urinary incontinence in women AND men. It is completely noninvasive and you get to stay fully clothed!

Emsella strengthens all the pelvic floor muscles with HIFEM technology (High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic Energy). It's like doing 11,000 Kegels in one 28 minute session. 

BTL has performed multiple studies with multiple providers. An article published in Lasers and Surgery in Medicine, 2019 reported that on average 64.42% of patients showed improvement in their ICIQ-UI score (a score of incontinence severity) and 53.68% decrease in absorbent pad use. 34.3% considered themselves completely cured. 64.29% of patients reported less leakage with sleeping. 44.19% reported they did not need to use absorbent pads at all! This study was done in patients who received 6 treatments. 

Another study published in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, December 19, 2019 showed significant improvement of pelvic floor integrity proven by 3D ultrasound. Treated patients achieved a 3X higher level of improvement in their PDFI-20 questionnaire (another marker of improvement in symptoms.) All assessment methods showed the HIFEM technology (Emsella) is more effective than electrostimulation for treatment of weakened pelvic floor muscles. 

Now let's talk about sexual wellness. Emsella is not FDA approved to improve sexual wellness, orgasms, etc., HOWEVER, studies are showing it works very well in this area! A study presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery 2021, reported on 33 females (around 50 years of age) who showed decreased interest in sexual activity accompanied by urinary incontinence.  Both desire and incontinence improved. Makes sense doesn't it? I mean who wants to dribble during sex?! Their ICIQ-UI (see above) score decreased by 61%. FSFI score (sexual function score) increased by 33%. PISQ-12 (another continence, sexual wellness questionnaire) increased significantly by 24%. Patients also benefited from increased sexual desire, improved lubrication, and orgasmic response.

SCULPSURE......Permanent Non-Invasive Fat Loss

SculpSure or, "warmsculpting, " as it has come to be called, offers permanent noninvasive fat loss in multiple areas such as arms, bra fat, abdomen, flanks, banana roll (right under the buttocks), love handles, saddle bags and inner & outer thighs. Surgical options include various forms of liposuction which are effective, but can be more costly and definitely result in downtime which SculpSure does NOT have. There is also Coolsculpting which offers permanent non-invasive fat loss as well, but the treatment sessions are longer, and patients usually have bruising and swelling in the treated area that requires massage. SculpSure uses a 1060 nm laser that targets only fat and has a cooling plate that rests on your skin. This wavelength is clinically proven to selectively target and reduce fat cells without disrupting the skin. "Feathering of heat" ensures that the area being treated is continuous and consistent. It is effective on all skin types and ethnicities. During the laser lipolysis, fat cells are destroyed and naturally eliminated from the body via the lymphatic system.
