    The Botox party on Nov 15th was a lot of fun!! Great food, great wine and especially great people to spend time with. Some people asked me about Dysport,  Radiesse and Restylane. Yes, I can do that for you, too. Let me know in advance if you KNOW that's what you want becuase I don't stock much of it. Most people get Botox and Juvederm. If you'd like to have your own Botox party, just let me know. A Christmas party or a jewelry party is a perfect setting setting for that. Plus, you can earn credits toward free Botox for yourself!`

    Beautiful You is offering several specials this month. In December only, Botox is $2 off per unit and Juvederm is $20 off per syringe.

    Also, I'll mention our bone density machine here. Bone densities, which screen for osteoporosis or evaluate the effectiveness of osteoporosis treatment, are part of my routine internal medicine practice. I am offering them this month for $25 (cash, check or credit card). It only takes a few minutes, is completely painless, and you get a color report to take with you right then. If you are thin, postmenopausal OR have a family history of osteoporosis then you are increased risk. Men, too, get osteoporosis and are especially at high risk if they have low testosterone.

Overweight......Yuck!! You Don't have to Be!!

    Overweight. Obese. Fluffy. Whatever you want to call it, it's not fun. It's frustrating in the morning tryng to fnd clothes. It's frustrating and disheartening in the summer trying to find a bathing suit. You re not alone, though. Did you know that 2/3 of Americans are overweight or obese? It's not just our looks we need to worry about it. It's our health. The incidence of diabetes has risen 76% in the last 10 years. And besides the health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol that excess weight causes, it's darned expensive! Think about the copays to the doctors office; the copays for the medicine; the increased insurance rates. You CAN lose that weight and keep it off! I speak from personal experience. My youngest child is 10.... About 9 months ago I weighed 211 lbs. I am 5'6". That was not good. I felt awful and I felt like I looked awful. I decided I wasn't going to let food control my life. So I did three things and now I weigh 146 lbs. That's a 65 lb. weight loss! First...I shifted my calories to earlier in the day. I eat a grain cereal or grits in the morning. I eat what I want at lunch, and then I don't eat past 2 pm in the afternoon. With that said.....do I get hungry at night? NO! I have an appetite, but that is different from hunger. Most of us do not know what real hunger is. Quit eating your dainty salads at lunch because that won't hold you until the next morning. EAT LUNCH! We put our weight on at night. I know Americans have busy lives, and we eat late, skip breakfast, etc. etc., etc. It doesn't mean you have to. Your family can eat and you can sit with them. Alcoholics learn in their recovery process that they are going to be with people who drink and they can't. You have to learn to sit with people who are eating and not eat. Food is an addiction. One note of caution, if you are diabetic, obviously you need three meals a day, but you still can adjust your calories to earlier in the day.
   Second thing I did.......became more active. I didn't go out an join a gym. As a matter of fact my treadmill is still in the garage. Find something you can do to exert yourself 4 times a week. I play Wii sports with my kids. I currently hold the ski jumping record and I am in second place in the hula hoop! With 4 kids that's what I have time to do. Turn off the TV and get off the couch or off the computer for 30 minutes. I don't care how tired you are, do something.

   You wouldn't let another person control you like food and weight do, so get healthy AND more beautiful.

    Yes. It's already November! 55 days until Christmas! In between now and then we still have Thanksgiving, decorating, baking, cooking, parties, traveling and shopping! I love shopping more than anyone, but I hate it at the holidays when there are so many crowds and I feel rushed to find something for everyone on my list. Ordering online helps some, but things stilll have to be wrapped, and there are those shipping costs! I have a solution........it's gift certificates!      Botox has multiple uses.....frown lines, crows feet, forehead wrinkles, bunny lines and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating under the arms, palms or soles of the feet) just to name a few. Results on the face last about 3 months. Treatments for hyperhidrosis last around 9 months.

     Botox newest indication is for chronic migraines. It has been approved for years in Europe for migraines and used off label in the U.S. for awhile.      Back to the holidays.......I know all you gals and guys want to look your best for family and friends. Not only do we offer Botox, but also Juvederm.      The holidays are always a time to remember our blessings and extend those to others. On Monday, November 15th I will be hosting a Botox party at my office! Come join us for wine and hors d'oeuvres. Get your Botox at a discount or just come learn more about Botox, fillers and Lipo-Ex! We will be doing free demonstrations of Lipo-Ex and I'll be talking about Botox, Dysport, fillers and Lipo-Ex.

Botox will be $9 per unit for those bothersome frown lines, crows feet, and bunny lines. Botox is normally $12/unit. If you are interested in treatment for hyperhidrosis on your hands, underarms or feet, that is priced by area. Just let me know what you're interested in. The discount will apply for the first 20 people who RSVP to let me know they are interested in a Botox treatment that night. I will accomodate as many people as I can over 20, but those are the only ones to whom I can guarantee the time and discount.

November 15th is the week before Thanksgiving so your Botox will be showing its best effects through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and NewYears if you get it then. If you don't know much about Botox, fillers or Lipo-Ex, just come hang out with us, and learn about them. Have some wine (or soft drinks) and some hors d'ouevres and enjoy the company!

Let's gather about 6:00. I'll plan to start treatments by 6:30. My nurse and Lipo-Ex technician will be there to answer any questions you have so come whatever time you're able and I plan to wrap up by 9 or 9:30 pm.

Let's Talk About Juvederm

Juvederm is one of a larger class of "dermal fillers."  It is made of cross linked hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that occurs in humans. Juvederm is a relatively organic way to fill in and smooth out areas in the face. No allergy testing is required as with some cosmetic injectables. The hyaluronic acid seals in moisture and interacts positively with collagen which keeps our skin looking young and elastic. Juvederm lasts about 9 months, but some people see results up to a year. It's most common use is filling in the lines between the nose and lips known as the "smile lines". It is also frequently used to plump the lips and that also keeps your lipstick from bleeding  into creases above your lip. Juvederm is also very useful for filling in acne scars. A very tiny needle is used to inject Juvederm and I use a special compounded cream to numb up the skin before hand. I personally have had Juvederm in my "smile lines". My nurse has injected mine and I didn't even use the topical anesthetic! Botox for Hyperhidrosis

Everyone knows that Botox is used to smooth out those forehead wrinkles, frown lines and crows feet. Did you know that Botox is approved for hyperhidrosis as well?

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating. It can affect the underarms, palm, soles of the feet, and forehead. Botox injections in these sites are extremely effective. For example, underarm sweating is reduced by 90% or more. Obviously some sweating is good, but excess sweating is annoying! Are you a business guy who needs to change your dress shirt part way through the day or ladies do you constantly have sweat stains are your clothes? Do you limit the kinds of clothes you buy because the sweat stains show through? Politicians often have Botox treatment in their palms. Athletes who sweat excessive and constantly ruin their shoes are excellent candidates for Botox as well. 

How does it work? And does it hurt? How long do results last? In the forehead and around the eyes, Botox temporarily paralyzes muscle fibers so that they relax and the wrinkles smooth out. In hyperhidrosis we inject just under the skin where your sweat glands are. Botox freezes the nerves that stimulate sweat glands to produce sweat. When treating frown lines or wrinkles, results usually last 3 months maybe a little longer. However, with hyperhidrosis you can get relief from excess sweating for at least 7 months and sometimes up to 10 months. We use a different, less concentrated solution for Botox and even without any topical anesthetic it doesn't really hurt. We do use a topical numbing cream that makes it even more comfortable. The whole treatment takes about 15 minutes or less. Results are seen within the first 24-48 hours with maximum results at 5 to7 days.
